Scott Aubrey Herren, age 57 of North Little Rock, received his call home during the night of August 21, 2020.
Scott was born August 1, 1963 in Dumas, Arkansas to Andy & Doreen Herren. Scott graduated from Montrose Academy and attended Arkansas A&M. Scott was a man of God. All who knew him will say that wherever he went, he brightened the room with his hugs, smile, and friendly gestures that he bestowed upon everyone.
Scott and his brother, Jay, had an unmatched love for music and were extremely gifted. Andy loves to share the story of how Scott started with the drums. Jay was getting all of the girls’ attention by playing the guitar, so Scott decided he needed a set of drums. He later became a drummer & lead singer for several incredible bands, building lifelong friendships. Jay preceded Scott to be with the Lord in 2003.
Anyone who knew Scott knew his children were his pride & joy. He enjoyed coaching softball to his beloved daughter, Brittany, when she was in grade school. It was on that softball field where fate brought 2 new daughters into his world, Jordan & Ellie. When Scott lost Jay in 2003, he and his wife, Carla, welcomed Jay’s son, Josh, into their home with open arms. Josh went on to play as linebacker for the undefeated state champs in Bentonville, AR. Whether it be a football game or a dance competition, Scott was always in the front row, cheering the loudest. He continued to be all four of his children’s #1 fan, no matter the endeavor, until his last breath. Two years ago, Scott became a “Pops” to Jordan & Blake’s son, Liam. He gifted him his first drum set and watching Liam grow brought him so much joy.
Scott was a dignified man who enjoyed the simple things in life; he cherished good food, good music & good company. He was a faithful friend and he displayed unsurpassed optimism. Scott believed in a firm handshake and a strong desire for what is good. Scott enjoyed a good movie and a fantasy football Sunday. More recently, he developed a love for bass fishing with his dad, even though he never actually caught a bass.
Scott is reunited in Heaven with his beloved siblings Jay Herren & David Burge.
Scott is still adored by his mother Doreen “Doe” Walker Herren, father Sidney Andrew “Andy” Herren, stepmother JoAnn Burge Herren, siblings Dale Burge, Danny Burge and Debbie Burge Richard, children Brittany Herren, Josh Herren, Ellie Garner, Jordan & Blake Klosterman, and grandson, Liam Klosterman.
In lieu of flowers, Scott’s family are encouraging donations to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in his name. This is in honor of his daughter Brittany, who began the career Scott was so proud of, as a Neonatal ICU Nurse at AR Children’s.
Scott’s Celebration of Life will be held at Smith Funeral Home in NLR on Wednesday, August 26th at 2PM. At a later date, Scott will be laid to rest with his brother and his “Mimi” in Portland, AR.
