Lula "Lou" Everett

Lula Faye “Lou” Everett, 87, of Little Rock passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020.  Lou was born July 28, 1933, in Spearman, Texas to Daniel Ernest Gill and Oma Ann Wright.

She was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church in Little Rock.  Lou was a graduate of Newport High School and graduated from Charles School of Beauty obtaining her license as a cosmetologist.  She worked as a cosmetologist for over 25 years and proudly owned and operated “Lou’s Hair Fashions” until a car accident in 1978, prevented her from continuing in her profession.  Not content with being retired, she discovered quilting, basket weaving, gardening and finally her love and talent for woodcarving, becoming a member of the Arkansas Woodcarvers Association.  Woodcarving became her passion for many years.

Lou was preceded in death by her husband of almost 37 years, Steven Elburn Everett, her parents, one sister, Winona Bennett of Indianapolis and two nephews.  She is survived by her daughter, Barbie Henley (Roger) of Roland, her son, Robert Knox (Paulette) of Little Rock, her grandchildren, Shelly Wade Roberts, Michael Wade (Tiffanie), Taylor Knox (Darby), Madison Knox, and Scott Henley (Amber), her great grandchildren, Haley Christine Wade, Evan Roberts, Belle Wade, Morgan Henley, Jacob Wade and one brother, Gene W. Gill of Springfield, Missouri.

She loved her family dearly and would always be the first to offer a helping hand to her family and friends.  Life presented her with many difficult situations, but she always tried to figure out ways to go around the obstacles and persevere.  She met each day with a prayer and a smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205; Arkansas Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 320 Executive Court, Suite 302, Little Rock, AR 72205; or Crystal Hill Baptist Church, 18823 Crystal Valley Road, Little Rock, AR 72210.
