William Larry Cater, 74, and Barbara Lynne Carter,73, both of Little Rock passed from this life within days of one another after fifty-three years of marriage. Larry was born July 23, 1946 in Little Rock to the late William Lewis and Inelda Carter, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a Baptist minister whose special mission was prison ministry. Barbara was born June 3, 1947 also in Little Rock to the late Henry and Minnie Ives. She retired after many years as an Administrative Assistant at Affiliated Foods in Little Rock. The Carters were members of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, where Barbara was a member of the choir until her health would no longer allow. In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by their daughter, Tanya Carter.
Surviving Larry and Barbara are granddaughter, Hannah Martin of Cabot; sister, Linda (Owen) Curry of Little Rock; brothers, Carlos (Barbara) Carter, David (Lynne) Carter of Little Rock, Joe Carter of Conway, and Wayne (Jennie) Ives of Houston. Other survivors include a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Mr. and Mrs. Carter at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in the Carters memory may be made to Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, 12400 I-30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
