Janice Kay Squires (Kay) was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 7, 1945 and was welcomed into God’s loving arms on March 1, 2020, at 74 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents H.Y. and Edith (Strickland) Turner; her brothers Robert (Bobby) Turner and Benny Turner; her niece, Karen Turner Hobbs; and her best friend, Marilyn Moore Hinson.
Except for time she lived in Beebe, Arkansas, and Dallas, Texas, Kay lived most of her life in North Little Rock and Little Rock, Arkansas. Kay was a tireless caregiver to her family and gained great satisfaction when she was able to help someone in need. Her family and friends were of the utmost importance to her. She received joy from simply spending time talking with the people closest to her, especially her grandsons.
Kay had a passion and appreciation for anything old – antiques, china, pottery, homes, etc. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed so many things which included bird watching, planting flowers, browsing flea markets or yard sales, and even pulling weeds or raking leaves in the yard. Kay often said one of the happiest times in her life was living on the small farm outside of Beebe. She was a hard worker who loved the huge garden, taking care of the animals, and the never-ending list of things that had to be done on a farm.
Kay is survived by daughter, Susan Squires Stroud and her husband Charles of Dallas, Texas ; son, Steve Squires and his wife Jennifer of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Cameron (Fayetteville, AR) and Adam (Little Rock, AR); 2 nieces, Sherry Turner Muehlfarth, Jamie Turner Shahan; and 3 nephews, Michael Turner, Joe Turner and Jeff Turner. She also leaves behind two close friends, Ellen King and Nita Sims.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. A private Interment will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park.
