James McGee, Sr.

James McGee, Sr.

James “Don” McGee, Sr. of North Little Rock, Arkansas, born June 24, 1930, transitioned to heaven on January 10, 2020.

Don is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret “Sue“ Morgan McGee, his daughter, Melinda McGee Stuckey, husband Ken Stuckey of Fayetteville, AR, his son, James “Jim” McGee, Jr. ,wife Mary McGee of North Little Rock.  Don has 6 grandchildren, Zac Stuckey, who preceded Don in death, wife Kelly, Jordan Stuckey, wife Lara, Natalie Stuckey Northcutt, husband Curtis, Tyler McGee, wife Cassie, Katy McGee Masters, husband Taylor, Molly McGee Casto, husband Ben, and four great children, Brody McGee, Everett Stuckey, Whitley Stuckey and Paxton Northcutt. Also, Don’s surviving sister, Billie Love of Tucson, AZ.

Don earned his BS degree in Education at Arkansas Tech and his MS in Education at UCA.  Serving his nation, Don joined the Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He served the Lakewood community of NLR as their Director of Parks and Recreation from 1958 for 40 years.  Don loved youth sports and was State Director of ASA softball for 40 years from 1973 until 2013.  He was a member of the Arkansas Officials Association during those years.

Don’s passions were his family, friends and serving his Lord.  He and Sue joined Levy Baptist Church in NLR in 1958 and Don served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher many of those years.  He loved to hunt and fish with his loved ones.

Don received the Hall of Fame award from the Arkansas Softball Hall of Fame in 2004, McGee Park in Lakewood was named for him and Sue at the end of their careers there.

Memorials can be sent to Simmons Bank, 2012 Crossover Road, Fayetteville, AR 72703; the Zac Stuckey Memorial for the Everett Stuckey Educational Fund.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, January 13, 2020 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home.  Funeral will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Levy Baptist Church, NLR with burial following at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at St. Joe Cemetery, Atkins, AR.  Online guestbook www.SmithFamilyCares.com
