Bert Fitzhugh

Bert Fitzhugh, 86, of Sherwood went to be with the Lord, February 17, 2020. He was born in the community of Maumelle, Arkansas on February 23, 1933 to Obert and Edna Brown Fitzhugh.

Bert was a member of Faith Baptist Church of North Little Rock for many years.  He was the national maintenance supervisor for ABF for 40 years and was “A Giant Among Men.”  He started Sterling Trucks of Arkansas and other small businesses. He also enjoyed farming in Des Arc, Arkansas.  Bert was a Pro Golfer and National Champion in softball for Senior League.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Gloria and he said the secret to marriage was “You have to keep the Lord in your life”. He is also survived by his children, Charles B. Fitzhugh, David B. Fitzhugh (Virginia), Daniel Eli Fitzhugh, Rachel Massingill (Barry); grandchildren, Shea Fitzhugh, Dana Copeland, Blake Fitzhugh, Farrah Fitzhugh, Sydney Massingill, Joseph Massingill; great grandchildren, Harley Copeland, Eli Copeland, Arabella Rose Fitzhugh; siblings, Jack Fitzhugh (Margie), Dorothy Davidson (Bill), Lea Robertson (Mike) and other extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Walter Fitzhugh and Virginia Seriani.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street. The Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Martindale Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Jimmy Fitzhugh, Jack Jr. Fitzhugh, Robbie McLean, Chuck Fitzhugh, David Fitzhugh, and Danny Fitzhugh.
