Kathleen "Kathy" Yates

Kathleen “Kathy” Yates, age 70, of Little Rock, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021.  She was born February 22, 1951 to the late Andrew and Ruth Ready Durkovich in Crown Point, IN.  Kathy is also preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Kay.

Kathy, also known as Pinkie by her grandchildren, loved everyone extravagantly in word and deed: Her family, by seeing the best in us and doing all she could to call that out in us. Her friends, through her creative care and readiness to serve to meet any need beyond what was asked for or even imagined. And even total strangers though her generosity, inclusiveness, and artistic vision that created moments they could never forget.

She was a creator and collector of moments: both in the past, and those yet to come. We will miss her joyful smile, her creative flair, warmest affection, thoughts first of others, and ability to make an incredible production of even the most mundane event.

In all of these things she was an amazing wife, daughter, mother, grandma, and friend; all rooted in her love for Jesus and desire to pass His love to others.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Steve Yates; two sons, Rory Yates (Shannon) of Little Rock, Blake Yates of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Ruth, Rex and Huck; and brother, Jim Durkovich (Suzanne) of Albany, IN.
