On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Jack Stone, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 67.
Jack was born April 2, 1952, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Earl and Margaret Stone. He attended Arkansas Tech and was a member of the Cavalier fraternity. He enjoyed serving the ophthalmic community as owner of BSI Services Inc. since 1991. On November 30, 1974 he married Nancy. They raised one son, John David.
Jack loved his family, loved going to the lake, and loved Jesus. After a good day of skiing on Lake Ouachita and then jumping off the roof of the houseboat, he would go back to the dock and cook a meal for everyone. He was a dedicated Christian leader of a close-knit community group. He and Nancy were committed to helping others in this community and elsewhere, such as with their mission trip to Kenya.
Jack was larger than life, never met a stranger, generous to everyone, and full of fantastic stories and plenty of “Jackisms”. Each morning at the lake he always needed to “see a man about a dog”. He’d come back with a newspaper and start working on crossword puzzles. And, at lunch he would complement the cook by saying “this is quite possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever had”. Jack will be missed.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Earl, his mother, Margaret, and his brother, Ken. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son John David (wife Heidi), grandchildren Violet and Emmett, several cousins, nieces and nephew, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home from 4 o’clock to 6 o’clock. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Fellowship North in North Little Rock at 4 o’clock.
