Charles Petz

Charles F. Petz, 79, of Benton, Arkansas passed away August 31, 2021.  He was born November 15, 1941 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late John and Ava (Runyon) Petz.

Charles was a member of First Baptist Church in Benton.  He taught the boys Sunday School class for many years.  In his teaching, he taught them about the importance of living for God and how to be gentlemen.  Charles was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and anything that allowed him to spend time in the woods.  His favorite hunting spot was at the Crooked Tree at White Oak Lake.  Family spent a lot of time at this special place.  Charles taught his children and grandchildren how to hunt and fish.  As a rugged outdoorsman, it is surprising to know that Charles loved opera music and flowers.  He was quite a character and a master storyteller.  Family was most important to Charles.  He made sure he took good care of them and cherished spending time with them.  He had a huge, giving heart and often helped others without anyone knowing.

Left behind to cherish Charles’ memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Ella Petz; daughters:  Dr. Vickie Henderson and Kari Sterling and her husband Robert; grandchildren:  Haley Buller and husband Matt, Braden Henderson, Jackson Sterling, C.J. Sterling, Blake Sterling, and Brennon Sterling; great-grandson, Cooper Buller; and many friends who love Charles and will miss him always.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Benton, in the Selph Hall.

The family will receive visitors at the home 6-8 pm on Wednesday, September 1, at 1525 Lynnwood Drive in Benton.
