Woodrow Denney

Woodrow L. Denney, age 62 passed away in his home July 18, 2016, in Sherwood, Arkansas, after battling Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) for more than a year. The sixth child in a family of eight sons, Woody was born on November 3, 1953, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Fred and Frances Denney.

Following graduation from Windsor High School in Windsor, Missouri, Woodrow joined the United States Air Force where he served for four years as a cargo specialist. After being home for a little over one year, he joined the United States Army serving as a Lance Missile crewman and Supply Sergeant. He retired from the US Army with over 22 years of service, his duty stations ranged from Okinawa, Germany, Guam and the United States. After retirement from military life, Woody continued working as a shipping/receiver manager for CustomKraft Industries and later worked for Morris Dickson where he drove the roads of central and northern Arkansas to deliver medical supplies to pharmacies and hospitals.

After receiving a motorcycle for his 55th birthday, he and his wife rode to over 31 states of the continental United States. Woodrow enjoyed travel, woodworking, all handicrafts, reading, TV, beer and cigarettes.

Though Woody tended to be shy and soft spoken, those who knew him will miss his intelligence, sense of humor, wit, and generosity. Most importantly, Woodrow loved spending time with his family and friends.

Woodrow is survived by his wife Nancy Crawford, daughters Athena Hum and Amber Denney, and brothers Rodger, Philip (Connie), Eugene, David, Tom (Cathy), and a large, extended family.

He was preceded in death by his son Stuart Denney, two brothers, and both parents.
