Winston Larry Vanderslice age 63, of the Brown Springs community near Arkadelphia died Saturday, November 18, 2006 in Little Rock. He was born January 22, 1943 in Brown Springs, AR., the son of the late Horace and Eva Bell Vanderslice. Winston was a teacher in the public high schools retiring after twenty years, afterwards he was cattle farmer for several years and a member and deacon of the Anchor Baptist Church at Brown Springs. In later years, he devoted most of his time helping people in the community who needed help. Winston struggled with Type 1 Diabetes for more than sixty-one years. His parents and a grandmother, Mamie Witherspoon Phelps, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one sister, Carolyn Lewis and husband, Bill of Lockhart, Texas; one brother, Gary Vanderslice and his wife, Mary of Mabank, Texas; one nephew, Phillip Vanderslice and his wife, Whitney of Chicago, Illinois; two nieces, Angela Livingston and her husband, Mark of Hot Springs, Laura Vanderslice of Austin, Texas and two great-nephews, William and Thomas Livingston of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery at Joan. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In remembrance of Winston, the family requests that a kind deed would be done for a neighbor or friend.
