Winnie Cox

Winnie Sue Cox, age 82, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday March 9, 2016. She was born July 4, 1933, one of seven daughters and one son to Gene and Gussie Mae Hambrick Evans in Biggers, Arkansas. Winnie was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and steadfast friend. She was a long-time member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She was involved in many church and volunteer activities.

Winnie worked with Sears, Farm Credit Services, and Small World Travel all in Arkadelphia. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Church Women United. She loved to go have lunch with the girls and play cards every Wednesday, read, go to Bingo and shop at the Beehive Store.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsey Beth Myers of Arkadelphia.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years, Howard Cox; her children, Terry (Debbie) Cox of Arkadelphia, Rebecca (Patrick) Downey of Benton; Beverly (Kenny) Myers, Russell (Gina) Cox and Tracy (Charlotte) Cox all of Arkadelphia; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Patricia Smith of Corona Del Mar, California, Andrea Risenhoover of High Ridge, Missouri and Virginia Morrow of Cherokee Village, Arkansas.

Services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 12th at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.
