Winfred Clardy

Winfred S. Clardy, 79, of Maumelle passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2006. He was born in Nashville, Arkansas on October 5, 1926. He was the son of Anthony Floyd Clardy and Ella Gammill Clardy. Mr. Clardy served in the Army in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he utilized the GI Bill to earn a Diploma of Advanced Studies in School Administration at the University of Arkansas at Fayeteville. He taught at Mineral Springs, Arkansas and served as superintendent until he moved to Nashville as County School supervisor. He was retired as Director of the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System and after retirement he continued to serve on the board. He also served on the board of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, where he served as president in 1991-1992. He was a member of the Wind Song Church of Christ in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Tyndall Clardy; son, Jim (Ann) Clardy, all of Maumelle; daughter, Sara (Chuck) Shipp; son, Daniel (Barb) Clardy, all of Conway; two grandsons, Ben Clardy and Zac Shipp; four granddaughters, Hannah and Rachel Clardy and Maddie and Molly Shipp; two sisters, Lellwyne (Norm) Parish, of Nashville, Arkansas and Betty Besfer, of San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with a 2:30 P.M. interment and graveside service at County Line Cemetery in Nashville. Family will receive from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M., Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Memorials may be made to Paragould Children?s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas 72450.
