Windell Marvin Merrell age 82 went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2025. Windell passed peacefully at the Veteran’s Home of North Little Rock. Windell served his country in the Korean War during his service in the Army.
Windell met the love of his life by working at Brinkley Motors in 1982. In March 1983, Windell married Barbara Anne Branham Mayhew. He became a stepfather and husband at that time. Windell was the owner and operator of Merrell Excavation and Mowing Services for which his wife supported him and even helped him operate the business when Windell was sick. Windell assisted the community with fundraisers and cemetery cleanup. He enjoyed watching his westerns and family.
Windell leaves behind to cherish his memory Walt (Sharon) Mayhew, Doug (Brenda) Mayhew, Lori Sheets; grandchildren Dillon (Ariel) Carnett, Nicholas Sheets, Marcus Sheets, Katherine Mayhew, Jeremy Vaughn and Jason Vaughn; as well as a host of nephews and nieces, Chester, Boyce (Tooter), Judy, Annie, Tim, Troy, Lane, Barbara, Sue, Mark, Susie, and Razanne (Peanut).
Windell was proceeded in death by his parents Chester and Gladys Merrell; wife Barbara Anne Merrell; brothers Winford, AC, Frank, and William; and sisters Willa Mae, Wilma, and Sandy.
Graveside service will be May 3, 2025, at 10 am at Sandhill Cemetery in Des Arc, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas. Please visit www.smithfamilycares.com/Westbrook to view the online registry.
