Wilma Dean Huey, of Little Rock, departed this earth on September 26, 2021. She was born April 7, 1930, in Gardena, California as Wilma Dean York. She moved to Griffithville, AR when she was a senior in high school and graduated from Griffithville High School. She attended ASU at Beebe and UALR and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Wilma was a member at Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock and a leader of the CBS Bible Study.
Wilma retired from Kroger after 20 years, and then, at the age of 70, retired from the Federal Government / VA Hospital. She served as President and other officer positions in the central Arkansas area of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), Federally Employed Women (FEW) and Toastmasters.
Wilma is survived by her loving caregiver and husband of 71 years, Doyle Huey; brother, Ricky York and sister, Jacqueline Linn; children, Peggy Sue Earnhart and husband, Bubba, and son, James D. Huey and wife, Jonilee. She was known as Mimi to grandchildren, Josh Earnhart, Donovan Reed, Misty Reeves, Sheri Pierce and John Reed; and12 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Dean York and Elsa Caroline Graupner-York, brother, Joe York and sisters, Gay Hodges and Kathy Hall.
Among her many talents, Wilma made the best coconut pie around; you better get your piece early as it will surely disappear at any event.
