Willie George Johnson Sr., age 62, passed away peacefully July 7, 2019. He was born December 29, 1956 in Little Rock, AR to Willie Johnson and Jewel Williams. His first marriage of 6 years was to Emma Louise Moore and two children came from this union - Willie George Johnson Jr and Reginald Antoine Johnson. Later he married Mildred Dean Profit. Willie was preceded by his wife, Mildred Dean Profit-Johnson, his father, Willie Johnson, maternal grandmother, Versie Taylor, paternal grandmother, Ferdie Hilliard, paternal grandfather, General Williams, paternal grandfather, Willie Johnson and paternal great-grandfather, Thad Hilliard.
He accepted Christ as his savior at a young age at Gaines St. Baptist Church and since then has become a member and deacon at Koinonia Fellowship New Testament Church, Little Rock. Decades of his life was spent in a career as a truck driver for Baptist Hospital, Ben E. Keith, Smokey Hollow, as well as The U.S. Postal Service. Willie enjoyed driving so much that he always said, "I'd even drive to the bathroom if I could." He got the most joy in backing up the big rigs into parallel spots and helping when others couldn't.
Nothing pleased Willie more than being with family and friends. He is survived by two sons, Willie Johnson, Jr. and Reginald Johnson; mother, Jewel Williams; three sisters, Barbara Johnson, Mildred Johnson and Sherry Johnson; grandson, Lemareon Battles; grand-daughter, Re'Nyiah Johnson; and fiancée, Brenda Powell. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00, at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), followed by interment at Arkansas Memorial Gardens in North Little Rock.
