William Young

William Hoover (Hoody) Young, 67, of North Little Rock died Tuesday, April 13, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Joyner Young; his mother, Betty Hoover Young; and his uncle, Sam Hoover. He is survived by his wife Kathryn; his children Sheffield (Amy) Young of Birmingham, Alabama; Amy (Eric) Mininberg and George Young of Atlanta, Georgia; Cliff Young of Oakland Park, Florida; Kristina Young and Megan Young of North Little Rock; his sisters Melinda (Harold) Edison of Georgetown, Texas, and Ann (David) Peters of Conway, Arkansas; his beloved grandchildren Mary Jane and Watterson Young, Josh and Emmy Mininberg, and Berkley Young; his aunt Emily Browning of Conway, and his uncle George Hoover of Clifton, Texas. In addition, he is warmly remembered and greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, and innumerable friends.
Hoover grew up in Conway and graduated from Conway High School. He received his B.A. from San Jose State University and his M.A. from the University of Arkansas. His interests were far flung, and he held a variety of jobs until his retirement four years ago. He was passionate about writing and reading, but his greatest love was for his family and friends.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 6701 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
