William "Wint" Johnston

William "Wint" Johnston, age 88, of Story, died Monday, May 28, 2012. He was born on March 7, 1924, in the Fannie community of Montgomery County, the son of J. D. Johnston and Dona Clenney Johnston. On May 23, 1944, he was married to Bernice Tedford. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Edith Garske and Audie Stachey. A United States Army veteran, he was retired from Camp Ozark and was a member of the Story Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Johnston of Story; his son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Adriana Johnston of Fannie; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ron Chesser of Hot Springs; two grandchildren, Randy Wyatt of Hot Springs and Tanda Stoelzing of Las Vegas, Nevada; three step-grandchildren, Kim Lindgren of Champaign, Illinois, Chip Chesser of Hot Springs and Johel Alvarez of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Brooke and Sophie Wyatt and Emma Kate, Luke, Charlie and Finn Stoelzing; three step-great-grandchildren, Ally, Jeff and Will Lindgren; his brother, Bert Johnston of Story; his sister, Joy Beam of Florence, Oregon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 31, 2012, in the Story Church of God with Bro. Paul Burke and Bro. Brien McKenna officiating. Interment will be in the Reed Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Lynn Ward, Galen Burke, Erby Qualls, R. B. Carter, Jack Ray and Rick Summitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Torn, Damon Ankenman, James Larry Bryant, G. A. Breshears, Glenn Whiley, Marcell Wallace, Jody Farmer, Bill Reed, Sherleen Reed and Terry Kinsey.
