William Burl Stewart, age 88, of Hot Springs, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in Hot Springs. He was born February 27, 1923 in Kingsland, Arkansas the son of William David Stewart and Clara Estelle Owen Stewart Posey. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal in 1978 after thirty years. Burl was a member and former deacon of the Oak Park Freewill Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and a Mason and past master of the Jacob Brump Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a infant son, James Barry Stewart and a special step-father, Ben Posey.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Irene Wynn Stewart; two sons, William Larry Stewart and wife, Vicky of Warren, Arkansas, Darrell Glen Stewart and wife, Rosemary of Maumelle, Arkansas; one daughter, Karen Sue Manning and husband, Eddie of El Dorado, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Dr. Jarrod Stewart, Justin Stewart and wife, Jaime, Meredith Stewart, Emily Perrone and husband, Joseph, Amber Myers and husband, Bryan, and Ashley Moore and husband, David; seven great-grandchildren, Seth and Evan Stewart, Lakyn Myers, Avery and Ayden Moore, Logan and Natalie Perrone; three sisters, Jackie Steorts of Shady Side, Maryland, Christine Longwell of Hemet, California and Betty Tubyville Golden of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 27th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia with Rev. Joe Grizzle and Rev. Larry Norrell officiating. Burial will be in Sparkman Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Saturday until service time. Memorials may be made to Gideons International 2900 Lebanon Rd.
