William A. (Allen) Smith, 78, of North Little Rock, went home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2007, at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock. He was born July 17, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late James Albert and Ruth Robenitte Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Thurman Smith; one sister, Geraldin Simms of Moore, Oklahoma; step children, Sammie Lucky, of Plummerville, Arkansas, Deborah Tracey, of Longwood, Florida, Trudy Holliman and Connie Davis Sane, of Wooster, Arkansas; two special step sons, Clyde Brannon, of North Little Rock and G.A. Dover, of Bryant; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and numerous other family members and special friends. He was preceded in death by a previous wife, Opheda Smith and several children that deceased at birth; a special nephew, Gerald Dover; sisters, Elibeth Irene, Kathleen Ruth, Nelia Ann, Jewel Louise, Katie Marie; and brothers, J.A. (Junior) and Robert Raymond.
He was a retired licensed carpenter. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 11474 in North Little Rock, served in the Navy and Army and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by family and friends!
There will be a service of viewing and remembrance at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170 on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., There will be a private graveside service at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later date.
