With the sweetest smile on his lips, William “Billy”/“Bill”/ “Bugs” Quarti left this Earth for an eternity in Paradise on April 21, 2023. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Louis & Frances “Fruzie” Muller Quarti, whom he missed dearly.
His memory lives on in his pride and joy-his family. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of nearly 52 years: Beverly; his most adoring fans, daughters: Ashley of North Little Rock & Leigha of Conway; Bugsy wannabes, grandchildren: Christian, Caleb, Drake and Ranger; proud big brother: John (Kathy) of St Cloud, Florida; brother in law: Billy (Sissy) McAllister of Cave Springs; sister in law: Linda (John) Brainerd of Conway; brother in law: the late Keith (Tracy) McAllister of Wooster; and many adoring nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family.
Bugs & Beverly’s love for each other was admirable and something they never took for granted. They were a united force, who faced the many challenges of life with grit, grace and a profound sense of humor. Laughter was their secret recipe and they shared it countless times daily. Even in difficult times, one always found a reason to make the other smile. They took perfect care of one another until the very end.
He remains the brightest light & hero in the eyes of his children and grandchildren. He never missed a game, a concert, or opportunity to support his babies. He did it loudly and with pride, every single time. The most loving and encouraging Dad and Poppa, he never lost his cool and always made sure each one felt they were secretly his favorite! Constant reminders to wash your hands, stand up straight, & check the oil in the car were received as endearing.
Although our hearts ache over the void that his absence brings, we find peace in knowing that he is no longer suffering and reunited with his beloved parents & late parents in law, Bill and Loretta McAllister of Conway. Not one to miss a party, he joined them just in time to celebrate Keith’s birthday.
Having never met a stranger, Bill forged long-standing friendships with most everyone he met. He was the embodiment of friendly and outgoing and was undeniably blessed with the gift of gab. This made his career in sales a perfect fit. He had a genuine interest in people and their life experiences. If he asked, he truly cared to know your answer. He never forgot a name and would often befit nicknames on his loved ones (and their pets).
The mountains were his happy place and the family visited Estes Park, Colorado innumerable times over the years. He loved lacing up his hiking boots, grabbing his hiking stick and enjoying the beauty of nature. A hike and a picnic with his family made for his perfect day.
There will be a memorial visitation on Friday, April 28 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Smith Family Funeral Home in North Little Rock. A private inurnment will take place at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to honor Bill by getting outdoors and taking a hike with your loved ones. Or perhaps seeing a movie with family…one coke, two straws, extra butter on the popcorn.
