William Powell

William Avery "Bill" Powell, Jr., 73, died Sunday January 24, 2010. He was an Episcopalian and a retired computer technician. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 19, 1936 and was the only child of William Avery Powell, Sr. and Erna Juanita Dahl Powell. His father's military career took the family to Japan at the end of World War II and to various cities in the United States. The family retired to live in Montana where Bill spent his high school years and graduated as class valedictorian. He yearned to return to Montana and the Big Sky Country. He was an army veteran and worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle prior to moving to Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Reynolds Collins; one son, Michael Powell, of Little Rock; two daughters, Leslie Clement of Sherwood and Stephanie Ott of North Little Rock; two step-daughters, Jana Collins Bundy of Blandford Forum, England and Krin Collins Sueref of North Little Rock; six grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 320 Executive Ct., Ste. 104, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26th at North Little Rock Funeral Home. A funeral service conducted by The Reverend Scott Walters will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Graveside services and burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, north of Atkins at 11:15 a.m. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
