William Pounders
William M. "Bill" Pounders, 87 of Benton, formerly of Pine Bluff, died on Saturday, November 6, 2010.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Dianna L. Gant and husband Dennis of Benton, and Sharon E. Weaver and husband Dwight of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Melba Lowrence of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; and a brother, Harold Pounders of North Little Rock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Pounders; a son, Kenneth E. Pounders; a granddaughter, Leslie Pounders; a brother, James Pounders; and a sister, Joyce McCarty.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and retired as a Captain after 27 years from Pine Bluff Police Department. He was an avid golfer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
