William Mernah, Jr.

William R. (Bill) Mernah, Jr., 93, of North Little Rock, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020.  He was born January 16, 1927 to the late William R. Mernah, Sr. and Augusta Carolyn Bostelmann.

After graduating from Catholic High School for Boys, Bill joined the Federal Reserve Bank and traveled across the country as an Assistant Federal Reserve Bank Examiner.  He later returned to Little Rock where he joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Arkansas as a Supervisory Analyst.  He retired from the FHLB in 1983.

After meeting her on a blind date, Bill married the love of his life, Marilyn Oswald, on December 26, 1959.  Bill was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in North Little Rock where he served as an usher for over 50 years.  He was a member of the Mens Club and was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degrees.  Bill was named Arkansas State Knight of the Year in 1997.

Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and Pa-Pa who always put his family first.  He was quiet and unassuming but of strong character and resolve.  His family will deeply miss his playful attitude, his regimented ways and schedules, his funny stories from his traveling days, his domino games, and his kind nature and generous heart.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 59 years, Marilyn, his son, Michael Mernah, his sisters, Louise Mernah and Frances Mernah, and his son-in-law, Paul Price.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Scott Ervin, daughter, Melanie Price, and grandsons, Evan Price and Kyle Price, all of North Little Rock.

The family wishes to thank all of Bill’s caregivers from Wright by Your Side In Home Care and from Hospice Home Care for their kindness and compassion.
