William Gorgas

William Stanley Gorgas, 74, of North Little Rock, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, April 22, 1933 to William L. and Mary A. (Korbylo) Gorgas.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anita Gorgas; two sons, William D. (Dan) Gorgas and his wife, Lisa of Mississippi, Paul A. Gorgas and wife, Sharon, of North Little Rock; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Matherne and husband, Paul, of Biloxi, Mississippi; brother, Philip Gorgas and wife, Sharon of Lexington; sister, Marcia Hausman and her husband, Frank of Louisville; brother-in-law, Ron Horrell and wife, Paralee of Louisville; seven grandchildren, Brian and Michael Matherne of Biloxi, Steven and Elaine Gorgas of North Little Rock, Reagan, William Reed and Ryann Gorgas of Decatur, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Bill attended St. Xavier High School, obtained his Bachelors Degree at the University of Louisville, was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and received his Masters at Webster University. He retired as a Major from the US Air Force after more than 20 years and from the State of Arkansas as an Audit Supervisor.
Bill was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, belonged to the Men?s Club, was a member of the Cursillo Movement, a member of 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and named Knight of the Decade 1990 ? 2000 and received the honor of ?Family of the Year?.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception School, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 or St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis 38105.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main, 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
