William "Cotton" McPherson

William "Cotton" McPherson, age 80, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was born on May 29, 1936, in Whaley, Texas, the son of Loaren Wheeler McPherson and Bernice Markham McPherson. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rhonda Suitor and Barbara Westfall. A retired insurance agent, he enjoyed fishing, following the Dallas Cowboys and especially spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a member of the Leary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Nancy McPherson of Texarkana, Texas; five children and their spouses, Tammy and Mike Cowart of Glenwood, Arkansas, Pat and Bill Self of Texarkana, Texas, Linda Lasker of Texarkana, Texas, Billy and Barbara Westfall of Port Orange, Florida and Ricky and Shannon Westfall of Ormond Beach, Florida; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, James McPherson of Texarkana, Arkansas, Frank McPherson of New Boston, Texas and Jimmy McPherson of Athens, Texas; one sister, Clara Dillard of Henderson, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 20, 2016, in the East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana with Bro. Mike Cowart officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
