William Embry Byrd, Jr.

William Embry Byrd, Jr., a cherished member of the Sherwood community, passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 45. Born on May 25, 1979, William dedicated the last five years of his life to serving the City of Little Rock as a skilled Operator 5, where his hard work and commitment were deeply valued.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Virginia Lynn Graham, of Mobile, AL. Left to cherish his memory is his father, Embry (Ondie) Byrd of Kilgore, TX. He had one sister who he adored, Melissa (Alaric) Damron of Mobile, AL. He is also survived by one brother, Tanner (Becca) Horne of Sherwood and he was so proud of his nieces and nephews: Ivey Lee Haney, William Thomas Haney, Ashlynn Rain Haney, Carter Horne, Eva Horne, and Xen Horne.

William was a man of simple yet profound passions. He had an unwavering love for animals and the great outdoors, often finding peace and joy in nature. Whether it was being in the woods or water, or simply enjoying the company of his beloved pet, Ace. William’s connection to the natural world was a defining part of his life. He was also a talented woodworker, pouring his creativity and craftsmanship into every project he undertook. His hands crafted not only objects but memories for those fortunate enough to see his creations. Will also loved to eat. If the grill or smoker were going, Will would be there to help and then enjoy the meal with friends and family. Will was also an avid Hogs fan and loved the Saturday's with the grill and pool while the Hogs were playing.

Above all, Will treasured the time spent with his friends and family. Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, he was a loyal friend, a loving family member and a source of laughter and comfort to those around him. His passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and love. William Embry Byrd, Jr., will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love for nature and craftsmanship, and the joy he brought to others, will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
