William "Butch" Eugene Hanner

William Eugene “Butch” Hanner, 78, of McRae, Arkansas passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023.  He was born on April 12, 1945, in Holland, Missouri to his parents Oscar Allan and Ola May Hanner.

After graduating from McRae High School, Butch was drafted into the United States Army in 1965 and served in Zweibrücken, Germany as a Supply Specialist.

After an Honorable Discharge, he returned from Germany and began a career that included positions as a Construction Foreman and machinist before retiring from ITT out of Searcy.  When he wasn’t working, Butch had a passion for the outdoors and really enjoyed hunting, cutting firewood for everyone he knew, working in the yard, and raising a big garden, giving away almost everything he grew.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his three sons, Kevin (Yvette) of Augusta, Georgia, Heath (Wendy) of Garner, Arkansas, and Michael of Garner, Arkansas; sister, Linda Britton of McRae; six loving grandchildren, Lauren (Zachary), Gwendolyn, Jarred, Sarah, Allyson, and Jasmine; two great-grandsons, Maddox and Rowan, and several nieces and nephews.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ola Hanner; sisters, Joe Alice Staley and Hazel Thomas; and brother, Ralph “Slugger” Hanner.

Butch cherished his relationships with family members and friends, especially Jake Staggs, Tommy Hendrix, Danny Covington, and Jerry Pruitt.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday June 3, 2023, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 DeWitt Henry Drive, Beebe, AR 72012. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
