William Frederick “Bill” Boehmer, Jr., 80, of North Little Rock passed away April 2, 2022. He was born in Little Rock on December 27, 1941 to the late Ida Zimmerebner Boehmer and William Boehmer, Sr. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ida Griffith and Anna McCloud.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pamela Chudy Boehmer; son, Justin Daniel Boehmer; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill attended grade school at St. Edward Catholic School in Little Rock. He attended Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock for three years from 1956-1959. His senior year he attended William Kelley High School in Silver Bay, Minnesota where he graduated in 1960.
After high school he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and served in Okinawa until he was discharged in 1965. He later joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1977. He served with his unit, 25th RAOC in Saudi Arabia when called to active duty during Operation Desert Storm in 1990-91. He retired from the Guard in 1994.
Bill worked for the VA Medical Center for over 34 years, starting out as a nursing assistant at the old VA Hospital on Roosevelt Road in Little Rock; and was a certified occupational therapy assistant at the NLR VA at retirement. During retirement he enjoyed watching game shows, DYI and Classic Car Shows on cable tv; and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and swapping emails with friends for entertainment.
Bill was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the IHM Rosary Sodality and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11097. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #60 for over 60 years.
The family would like to thank Marcia McBride, RNP and Dr. M. Singh with the peritoneal dialysis clinic at the VAMC in Little Rock for the excellent care Bill received during his time on dialysis.
Visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2022, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7006 Jasna Gora Dr., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118 or St. Edward Catholic Church, 801 Sherman St., Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
