William Blevins

William Bruce Blevins, 70, of Little Rock, passed away October 25, 2009. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas on August 27, 1939 to Clifford and Patricia Blevins, he graduated from Henderson State University where he played college football. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and in 1960 was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the Taiwan Straits.
Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He practiced law for forty years, during which he served as a judge in the Jacksonville Municipal Court. He was licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He was a member of the Arkansas Bar Association where he served as President, and a member of the American Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Carpenter and husband, Larry, and his son, Will Blevins and wife, Lisa, all of Little Rock; sister, Jayne Beezley and husband, Michael of Amarillo, Texas; special friend, Brenda Baker of Little Rock; grandchildren, Alexandra Wykes, Sydney Blevins and Hannah Blevins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services with Military Honors will be Wednesday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Brandon Swoboda. Visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, AR 72210.
