William “Bill” Shaw, 89, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away November 2, 2022. He was born March 9, 1933, in Obion County, Tennessee to the late William and LaGretta Shaw.
Bill retired from the Air Force after serving 26 years. While in the Air Force he was a flight instructor, bomber pilot, expert marksman, ROTC instructor, led his own flight squadron, and intelligence officer. He visited all 50 states and over 20 countries.
In his free time, he enjoyed flying planes, working on computers, and traveling in his motorhome. He also spent time outside gardening, fishing, and woodworking. Bill was involved in his former churches, as a Deacon, he taught Sunday School, and was the Director of Sojourners Evangelism. He was a current member of Windsong Church of Christ.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy Fisher Shaw; children, Donna Shaw of Jacksonville, Arkansas and David Shaw of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Mari Ortega, and Victoria Tripp; and great-grandchildren, Eboni Tripp, Pablo Tripp, J’dun Tripp, and Olivia Rodriguez.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107). A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
