William R. "Ronnie" Bell age 60 of Arkadelphia died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Little Rock. He was born November 4, 1948 the son of William George and Flora Glaze Bell.
He began his teaching career in 1978 in Gurdon Public Schools, was counselor at Glenwood High School for two years, served full time in the Arkansas National Guard, serving for 1 year as the unit administrator, and a military career spanning more than 20 years, then served the Arkadelphia public school system for 20 years as teacher, administrator, and counselor. Among his honors he was 2003 Middle/Jr. High Counselor of the Year having been selected by The Arkansas School Counselor's Association. After his retirement he served as adjunct instructor at Henderson State University. William was a member of Third Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Atkins Bell, one son, William Jeremy Bell of Arkadelphia, his mother, Flora Cline of Alexander, AR and one brother, Dr. Rex Harrison Bell of Little Rock.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Third Street Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. Charlie Williams and Rev. Greg Latham officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
