Dr. W. O. Bedford, 92, of Little Rock, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2008. He was the son of Lawrence and Clara Bedford of Monticello, New York. Dr. Bedford graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and opened a full-time practice from March 11, 1945 until July, 1977. He maintained a part-time practice from 1977 until October, 1997 when he retired due to health problems.
In his professional activities, he was past president of the Arkansas Chiropractic Association and of the Palmer College of Chiropractic of Arkansas Alumni Association, Southern Regional Director of Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni, and was awarded Director Emeritus of the Palmer College of Chiropractic. He was a Fellow in the Palmer College of Chiropractic Academy of Chiropractors and was a Fellow in the International Chiropractic Association. He served on the Board of Trustees of Palmer College of Chiropractic and was appointed Chair of the Chiropractic Ad Hoc committee on the national level for grant funding for chiropractic students. Dr. Bedford was a past member of the Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, member of the North Little Rock Lions Club, a member of the Little Rock mansion zoning committee and a member of the Little Rock Club. He was also a member of the Apela Club since 1948, belonged to the Old Goats Club and was a charter member of the Republican Task Force President Trust. He was a life member of the Arkansas Chiropractic Association in 1989 and a member of Winfield Methodist Church.
Dr. Bedford is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Billie Paulette West of New Mexico; step-daughter, Faye Bolin of Sherwood; nephew, William L. King of Jordan, New York; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 12 from 2-4 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 13 at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Rick Caldwell.
