William Earl Baskins, 82 of Little Rock died Monday, April 27, 2009. He was born to the late Earl Baskins and Ruby Kissire Baskins.
He was predeceased by his wife Winifred Mac Elee Baskins.
He was a veteran of two wars, and served his country in the United States Navy from 1941 through 1950.
Mr. Baskins held graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas, and Columbia University.
He was employed by the Dake County Court from 1950 through 1971 in Waukegan, Illinois.
Mr. Baskins returned to Little Rock in 1971 where he worked for Arkansas Unemployment Security Division and retired in 1987.
Mr. Baskins was an accomplished pianist, and an avid fan of the theatre. He enjoyed movies and met many film artists.
He attended Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church and was dedicated to his church , his family, and many friends.
Mr. Baskins is survived by his son Bruce Baskins of Little Rock; and four daughters; Winifred Nowlin and Julia Bunten and husband of Little Rock; Doretta Downes and husband John Downes of Russelville; and Barbara Mateus of Olive Hurst California.
Mr. Baskins is survived by five grandchildren; Anna Barnwell, Linda Ann Capps, Andre's Mateus, Ricardo Mateus, and Rosalina Mateus, and three great grandchildren; Chanler Barnwell, Devon Epperson, and Julia Capps.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church in Little Rock with Reverend Ruskin Falls officiating.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton, Arkansas.
