Wiliam Jones

William Ray "Casey" Jones passed away at age 83 at his home on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 12:30 p.m. at the Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. Visitation will take place on the preceding evening, Friday, September 12th between 6 - 8 p.m., also at the NLR Funeral Home.

Bill was born on September 8, 1931 to the late Orland Ray and Opal Edna Jones in Van Buren, Arkansas. Upon moving to Little Rock with his family, he graduated from Little Rock High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Navy. After working for several years with Western Electric, Bill got his dream job with the Arkansas State Police. He was extremely proud of his service as a Trooper and had many interesting and rewarding experiences, rising through the ranks to a Captain. His appointed position as the Arkansas State Fire Marshall completed his career. During his tenure, he served for Governors Faubus, Rockefeller, White, and Clinton. Upon retirement, he worked as a private investigator.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Frankie, and his son, Rodney. "Poppa" is survived by his "grandson", Ross Morrison, of Nashville, TN and Ross's mother, Jeanie Collyge Rowland of Franklin, TN. Cousins Bob Housley of Van Buren and Ethel May Beall of Wilson, Arkansas are surviving family members. Other survivors who will miss him dearly are many special friends, extended family members, family members of Frankie's, caregivers, and neighbors who will always have a special place in their hearts for the gentle, sweet man they called "Mr. Bill", "Uncle Bill" or "Poppa".

All those who met William R. "Casey" Jones were charmed by his personality. He knew no strangers. He was affectionate, loved to laugh, tease and shower others with compliments and love. His use of a special term of endearment (those who knew him best know this word!) will be remembered fondly.

Frankie and a few others would often call this special man "Billy Ray" His loved ones know and accept that he is in a better place; with Frankie, Rodney and their precious pup, Sophie. He will be missed and remembered with love and respect by many.
