Wilbur Lee Gentry, Sr., 92, of Little Rock, passed away July 10, 2018 with his family at his side. Born in Faulkner County, Arkansas to Lester and Etta Shirley Gentry, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of 42 years and a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church since 1948. Wilbur was a founder and contributor of the Jacksonville Museum of Military History. He devoted his time and energy serving non-profit organizations, including Red Door Thrift Shop, Youth Home, Angels in the Attic, Food Bank, Compassion Center, Helping Hand, and the Oak Forest Food Pantry.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Christine Gentry; daughters, Pat Calhoun and Renee Heard; sons, Lee Gentry (Shelly) and Lynn Gentry (Emily); eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Vaud, Orville and Denver Gentry.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), with visitation preceding the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72204 or the Helping Hand, 1601 Marshall St., Little Rock, AR 72206.
