Waymon Hammons

Waymon C. Hammons, 94, of Cabot, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was born December 10, 1922 in Cabot to Eulon and Eva Bryant Hammons. He served in World War II with the Army Air Corps and worked at the VA Hospital for many years. Waymon was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Gibbs Hammons of Cabot; four sons, Larry (Karen) Hammons of Beebe, John (Annette) Hammons of Cabot, Larry Dickson of Ward, and Gary (Kim) Dickson of Cabot; three daughters Jamie (Joe) Carmical of Austin, Melinda Buchanan of Cabot, and Penny Jones of Cabot; ten grandchildren, Laura (Chad) Pryor, Jeff (Amanda) Hammons, Jared Hammons, Chelsea (Kirby) Johnson, Amanda (Tony) Breazeale, Brooke Carmical, Barron Dickson, Cher Buchanan, Chance Buchanan and Misty Wyles; five great-grandchildren, Lauren Bell, Ryne and Brooks Johnson, Preston and Jaxson Wyles; sister-in-law Pearl Hammons; nieces Sandra (Bob) Tubbs and Connie (Mike) Stout; many friends; and special caregivers, Gale Queen, Penny Jones, Kim and Gary Dickson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bettie Joe Fewell Hammons, one grandson Jesse Hammons, and one brother, Winfred Hammons.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Hilltop Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. www.smithfamilycares.com
