Wanda Gooden

Wanda Lee Gooden, age 84, of Maumelle, Arkansas, peacefully entered her eternal rest on February 18, 2025, at her home.

Born on January 27, 1941, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, Wanda was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Angus (Bill) Gooden and Thelma Mary (Hurtt) Gooden. She graduated from Mammoth Springs High School in 1959 and later retired from the Arkansas State Library, where she devoted her career to fostering knowledge and learning.

Wanda was a faithful servant of the Lord and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Her life was a testimony to God’s love, and she walked daily in His grace, always seeking to encourage others in their faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Billy Joe Gooden. She is survived by her two loving sisters, Barbara Holman of Conway and Eula Rowden of Greenbrier, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply. Wanda had a heart for family, and she poured out love across generations, always offering wisdom, kindness, and a helping hand.

Her life was enriched by many friendships, but none as dear as her bond with her best friend, Margie Lentz. Their friendship reflected the deep, faithful love seen in 1 Samuel 18 with David and Jonathan, as they walked through life together, strengthening and encouraging one another in Christ. They prayed, worshiped, and grew in faith side by side, always seeking to glorify God.

Wanda’s life was a beautiful example of faithfulness, love, and selfless service. She loved the Lord with all her heart and lived each day striving to reflect His goodness. While she will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing she has been welcomed into the arms of her Savior, hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)

Her legacy of love, devotion, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

 A Memorial Service will take place Tuesday, February 25, 2025 beginning at 2pm at Windsong Church of Christ.
