Wanda Faye Gafford Vermeer

Wanda Faye Gafford Vermeer, age 79, of Glenwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 21, 2025.

She was born on April 25, 1945, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Ernest Lander Gafford and Frances Marie Morrow Gafford. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Edward Vermeer.

Wanda married the love of her life, John, on June 20, 1964. Wanda was an active member of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. She worked in the AWANA program with her "Cubbies," was a retired Nursery Director, and absolutely loved her church family. She embodied Proverbs 31, southern hospitality, and was a prayer warrior. She prayed daily for the Children at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She would keep her door open at all times and watched many children in the Glenwood area who lovingly knew her as, "Granny Wanda." She was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and loved Elvis. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother  and friend and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Robin Bobo and Mark Muñoz of Breckenridge, Texas, Brian and Gayle Vermeer of Ashdown, Michelle and Robert Garner of Hot Springs and Jeanette Smith of Russellville; her twenty-three grandchildren; her twenty-nine great-grandchildren; her four great-great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Larry Fredrick of Archer, Florida; and her nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and her many "bonus babies" she kept over the years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Glenwood First Baptist Church.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home.
