Walter Stephens

Walter W. Stephens, 89, of Maumelle passed away Monday, December 22, 2008. He was born November 28, 1919, the son of Herman Stephens and Bessie Mae Siler. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years and St. Vincent after 18 years. He was a Freemason in the thirty second degree a member of Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754 and was a member of United Methodist Church Quapaw in Little Rock.
He was a loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jenwyl D. Stephens of Maumelle and is survived by his daughter, June Combs and her husband, Bob Combs; granddaughter, Rhonda Keeton and her husband Jon Keeton, all of Gravel Ridge; grandson, Steven Crowder of Little Rock; great-granddaughters, Jennifer and Brittany Lewis of Gravel Ridge; two sisters, Polly Hall of Albany Georgia and Mable Montgomery of Eugene, Oregon; and two brothers, Wayne and Archie, both of Cherry Valley.
Memorials may be to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
