Walter Osco Ruple, 92, of Sherwood died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the home he built for his family, due to complications from Alzheimer's. He was born November 15, 1925 in Greenbrier, Arkansas to Major and Orean Ruple.
After coming home from World War II he married the love of his life, Janice Rollow. They were married for 70 years. Walter was a jack of all trades, a world traveler and loved by all including his church family. He was a founding member of Cherrywood Missionary Baptist Church, which he helped build.
He is survived by his wife, Ilah Janice Ruple; daughter, Vickie Huston (Mike); four grandchildren, Terry Huston, Sarah Ruple, Steph Ruple, and Steven Ruple; six great-grandchildren, Cody Huston, Zach Huston, Eva-Rose Massaad, Zoe' Massaad, Edward Bond, and Josh Allman; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Waylon Huston. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Gary Wayne Ruple.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2017 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park.
