Walter L. Hewell age 85 of Arkadelphia formerly of Hurst, Texas died Thursday, September 9, 2010 in Arkadelphia. He was born February 7, 1925 in Randlett, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Hewell have lived in the Arkadelphia area for the last two years and were previously residents of Hurst, Texas for forty-three years. Mr. Hewell was a retired business manager for auto dealerships and involved in real estate sales before his retirement. He was a member of Arkadelphia First Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and a member of the choir at North Ft. Worth Baptist Church, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an U. S. Army veteran of WW II. One son, Scott Hewell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Evelyn S. Hewell; one son, Rob L. Hewell and wife, Cynthia of Arkadelphia, AR; two granddaughters, Kaylyn Hewell and Karyn Schmidt and her husband, Tony; one great-grandson, Damian Watson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 11th in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lee McGlone, Dr. Jack Terry and Rev. Don McCall officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 PM Saturday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ouachita Baptist University for Church Music Students.
