Walter Bennett

Walter T. Bennett, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. He was born in Little Rock on January 28, 1919, the son of Thomas B. and Tessie Wells Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a 65 year employee of O. R. Burton and a 66 year member of Union #798. Mr. Bennett was a 50 year member of the Iron Springs Masonic Lodge and a member of the Lorance Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Barbara Bennett; son, Ronald Bennett (Billie); brother, Russell Bennett (Peggy); a sister, Thelma Massery, all of Little Rock; stepsons, Brian Sweeney (Jamie) and Bruce Sweeney; and stepdaughter, Beverly Domerese (Bill); six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Arnold, brothers, Harley and Wallace Bennett and sister, Barbara Wyrick.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Services will be Friday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Mr. A. J. Arnold. Burial will follow in Landmark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saline Memorial Inpatient Hospice.
