W.A. Mitchell

W. A. "Dub" Mitchell, 80 of North Little Rock, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010. He was born on December 7, 1929 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Essie Hill Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy McKinnon Mitchell; three children, Donna Gayle Beaver (Charles) of Sherwood, Arkansas, Brooks Alan Mitchell (Robin) of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Patti Lynn Mitchell of Warren, Indiana; a step-granddaughter, Ronda Schrekenhofer (Brian) of Conway, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Kinnon, Jonica and Julie Mitchell of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Cory, Brittney, and Brandon Hunt of Warren, Indiana; and two step-great-grandchildren, Taylor and Trenton Schrekenhofer of Conway, Arkansas.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He owned Mitchell Color Center, was a building contractor, and sold real estate and pre-needs for North Little Rock Funeral Home and Griffin Leggett Rest Hills. He was a dedicated member of Levy Church of Christ and served as a Deacon for 39 years, and he was the chairman of the Building Committee during his tenure, and he started the "Over 70's" program at the church.
The family wishes to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at UAMS Myeloma Center, Springhill Rehab, and Hospice Home Care for their compassion and care. Memorials may be made to Levy Church of Christ building fund, Hospice Home Care, or American Cancer Society.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Levy Church of Christ. His final resting place will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday August 30th at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
