W.J. "Dub" Waymack, Jr., 94, of North Little Rock went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 12. Born on October 10, 1918, at Cabot, AR, he graduated from Cabot High School before joining the U.S. Navy. He was present at the attack on Pearl Harbor and served aboard the destroyer the U.S.S. Dorsey in the Pacific for the remainder or World War II. After retiring from the U.S. Navy as Chief Radioman, he and nephew Charles Cox cofounded WaCo Boat Manufacturing Incorporated of North Little Rock. He was a member of Levy Baptist Church in North Little Rock where he was a trustee, a deacon, and a Sunday school director for over 35 years, so dedicated that members of the church gave him the name "Mr. Sunday School." He was a Mason, a Gideon, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 67 years, Doris Weeks Waymack, his parents Jewell and Evie Waymack, brother Harvey, and nephew Charles Cox. He is survived by his brother John B. Waymack and wife Margie of Cabot and his nieces and nephews who he and Doris called "Our Kids." They are John Matthews and wife Linda, Jo Ann Vinson and husband Bob, Ron Weeks and wife Carla, Sharon Laudermilk and husband Gary, Cathy Cook, Judy Cole and husband Aaron, Diane Fortson and husband Steve, Steve Weeks, Melissa West and husband Keith, Dena Sowell and husband Mark, Suzanne Riffle and husband Matt, Tom Cox and wife Elizabeth. He will also be greatly missed by his many great nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and especially by his Parkstone Place Family whom he had come to love over the last two years.
Memorials may be made to Levy Baptist Church, 3501 Pike Avenue, NLR 72118 or Gideon's International, 7407 Henderson Road, Little Rock 72210, or Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, NLR 72116.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 15 at Levy Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., also at Levy Baptist Church, with Rev. Steven Tiner officiating, Rev. Otto Brown assisting, and nephew Rev. John Matthews giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park.
