W.E. (Eugene) Hewitt, 85, of White Hall, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home. Eugene was born on
November 28, 1931 to the late Roy J. and Clyda Mae Hewitt of Arkadelphia. He was predeceased by sister Ruby Jo Cook and
brothers Edwin Earl Hewitt and John Owen Hewitt.
 
Eugene was joined in marriage to Maxine Sellers on August 25,  1951 Mr.Hewitt was a member of Central Baptist Church of
White Hall. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, daughters, Vivian H. Duncan of Benton and Rhonda (Stanley) Johnson of
White Hall. Mr. Hewitt will be greatly missed by his 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Schkerke (Brian) of St Louis, MO,
Rachel Dunn(Joe) of Little Rock, AR, David Duncan of Indianapolis, IN, Mandy Herring (Tracy) of White Hall, and
Will Johnson (Amanda) of White Hall, AR along with 7 great-grandchildren.
 
Eugene was employed by Safeway from 1955 to 1986 and retired as manager. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing,
woodworking, gardening, and raising grandchildren. Mr. Hewitt was always known for his humor and kindness to others.
 
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 21, 2016 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:45 am at Ruggles - Wilcox Funeral Home. He will also lie in state at the funeral home Tuesday December 20, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00.
