Vivian Hays

Vivian Tucker Hays, 94, daughter of Washington Irving Tucker and Ethel Thompson Tucker Butler, died in a local Little Rock hospital on December 30, 2006. She was born in Camden, Missouri on August 2, 1912 and raised in Emporia, Kansas. She married Edmund Davis Hays in Colorado in 1936. They moved to Arkansas in 1939, raising their family in Fort Smith.
Vivian is survived by her husband of 70 years; a son, Don Hays (Nita) of Little Rock; a daughter, Eddie Sue Hays Ryan (Richard) of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Carla Hays of Bryant, Clay Hays of Hot Springs, Dawn Ryan and Tim Ryan, both of Indianapolis; and four great-grandchildren.
After 45 years in Fort Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Hays lived in South Carolina, in an assisted living facility in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and finally, in Chenal Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Little Rock.
Vivian was a devoted wife and mother who was known as "The Flower Lady" because of her lifelong passion for growing and having flowers year round. She enjoyed summer gardening and used organic methods before this approach became popular.
Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas. There will be no scheduled service per Vivian's request.
Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, (501)224-2200.
