Vivian Fish, 89, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away March 9, 2022. She was born March 12, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Jessie Bell and Georgia Triplett Bell.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jack Fish; her brother, Warren Bell; and sister, Wanda Gage.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty Fish of North Little Rock, Arkansas; son, Doug Fish (Jo Ann) of Sherwood, Arkansas; grandchildren, Benjamin Fish (Lacee) of Almyra, Arkansas and Elizabeth Fish of DeWitt, Arkansas; and a great-granddaughter coming very soon. She is also survived by her special cousin, Mary Irene Bolte of Salina, Kansas.
Vivian lived a full life and almost made it to 90 years old. She was probably the most agreeable person on the planet. She always seemed pleased with whatever was said or done. Her favorite sayings were “It will be alright” and “We will have to wait and see.” These sayings seem to apply to anything from food to politics to the end of times. On March 9, 2022 her time ended on earth and we suppose she found out things were alright and the time for waiting to see was finally over.
Vivian was a frugal person having begun life during the Depression Era. She didn’t like to throw away much believing there would be a use for it somewhere down the road. She grew up during Franklin Roosevelt’s terms of presidency and he was the only President she knew until she graduated high school. Later she did meet President Truman in an elevator; and she loved to tell that story.
Vivian married Jack Fish in October 1954 and would share close to 41 years together. While Jack worked as a barber and then later as a mortician, Vivian did a host of jobs including clerical, production work, and working at funeral homes. She lived in Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
For the last twenty years she has lived in North Little Rock. She attended First Baptist Sherwood and later Baring Cross Baptist Church in Sherwood. Vivian loved her God and all the different churches she had become involved with through the years. She had friends scattered through Nebraska, Louisiana, and Arkansas that she kept in touch with. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
Vivian loved to bake and cook and had a lot of recipes to share. She loved to crochet kitchen towels, travel and loved to read. She especially enjoyed reading the Bible, the newspaper and her books. She always marked every book she read by putting a mark on page 12.
The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice, Donna with Visiting Angels, Dr. Robert Stanley and his staff as well as many other doctors, nurses, and staff through the years who had been involved in her care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian's name to Baring Cross Baptist Church or Kindred Hospice.
A funeral service to celebrate Vivian’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home (7700 Hwy 107) with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery (829 Mt. Pisgah Road, Searcy).
