Virginia P. Rutledge, age 89, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Siloam Springs Nursing Home. She was born September 24, 1920 in Little Rock, AR the daughter of Browney and Etta Hutchison Richardson. She married William T. "Tom Bill" Rutledge on April 22, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1992. They lived and raised their family together for forty-seven years in Arkadelphia where Virginia was a secretary for the Park Hill Baptist Church and later worked as secretary for the Dean of the School of Music at Ouachita Baptist University until her retirement. In 1995 she moved to Joplin, Missouri to live near her son Tom and his family. In 2008 she moved to Siloam Springs Nursing Home near her son Keith and his family. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest son Terry, sister Goldie and brothers John and Elmer.
She is survived by her sister Alice Richardson Rawlings of Fort Worth, Texas, sons Tom Rutledge and wife Karen of Joplin, Missouri, William "Keith" Rutledge and wife Rhonda of Siloam Springs, grandchildren, Chad and wife Becky Rutledge of Salt Lake City, UT, Jason and wife Kristine Rutledge of Fayetteville, AR, Kyle and wife Natalie Rutledge of Rolla, Mo, and Abby Rutledge of Fayetteville, AR, great grandchildren, Morgan and Ethan Rutledge and several nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be 4 PM Sunday in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Arkadelphia with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating. Visitation will be 2:30 PM until service time in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church or Ouachita University School of Music both in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
