Virginia Martin
Virginia Martin, 88, of Alexander, Arkansas passed away December 22, 2016. She was born July 1, 1928 in Henderson, Texas to the late Collie and Gladys Yates Williford.
Virginia was a current member of Congo Road Baptist Church. She was a long-time member and worker at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock where she was the founder and director of the Respite Care Center, which gives caregivers assistance in caring for their elderly parents. Virginia and her husband, Joe were owner operators of Martin's Market in North Little Rock for over ten years. Virginia was an avid button collector. She learned the history of each button and shared that information with many organizations. She has sewn thousands of buttons onto fabric pieces that decorated many rooms of her home. She also loved flowers and gardening. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Martin; parents, Collie and Gladys Williford; brother, E.J. Williford; and grandson, Joey Vanness.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Linda Brockinton and husband Doyne of Alexander, Arkansas; two sons, Jim Martin and wife Cindy of Concord, Arkansas and John Martin and wife Leigh of New Mexico; brother, Bobby Williford of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; chosen daughter, Rebecca Leslie; and many other family members and friends who loved Virginia and will miss her always.
Memorial service, officiated by Bro. Jeff Langley, will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Congo Road Baptist Church, 7193 Congo Road, Benton, Arkansas, 72019. Inurnment will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in North Little Rock.
